There's Gold In Them Thar Hills...
The hills where the children live that is.
The had their very first belt test tonight at Karate and did very well! I am so proud of these children and the way they take their classes so seriously. We definately saw some examples of children who didn't.
One of the exercises they did was to chose their best kicking leg. Then they had to change legs so that they were kicking with their worst leg. They did a forward leg kick and had to hit xray paper targets held by one of the testers. If they put their foot down, they were done. The goal was to hit the target as many times as possible before putting their foot down.
Seven students began the exercise. Then it was down to 4.
Then down to 3.
Finally down to 1.
And she kept going.
And going.
70 consecutive kicks before putting her foot down.
Both kids showed near perfect form.
And at the end of the test they were awarded their gold belts.
I hope they are as proud of themselves as I am of them.

Happy Thanksgiving! Wow what a kicker. Congrats to the kids on their gold belts. I like the coordinating face blocking on the others.

Congrats to both! I like how the "little sister" has the same belt as her big brother and won the kicking contest. :)
Congrats to them both!
