I've been remiss about announcing special birthday wishes. So for those recently passed and those about to be and especially those tomorrow (you know who you are):

Happy Birthday! to Kelly, Donna, Ruthie, Bill, Ruth, John, Michael, Tracy, Erin, DeNae, Beth, and David.

Another Birthday in 'da House

Special birthday greetings for the boy child who will not allow public displays of affection!

My son is officially 11. He handled "being the same age as his sister" for 11 days quite well. It did, of course, spark some interesting conversations about being twins - whether they could pass for twins, if people ask if they are twins, what would it be like to be twins...

He and his sister are close. Hopefully that will not change over time as they get older and start going their separate ways more and more. But they really are each other's best friend (and worst enemy). It delights me to no end to know that they do indeed love each other - and show it! Well, ok, not publically.

Someday he will realize that it's not so bad to give a hug or smooch in public. Especially when you really love some one. I just hope I get that public smooch before some girl grabs his attention and gets one first.

Happy Birthday, Son. Here's your public handshake and your private hug. I love you.

Happy Birthday, Angel

My baby turns 10 today. It's hard to believe that an entire decade has passed since this precious angel was placed in my arms for the first time. We had an interesting conversation the other day:

M: You sound excited. What's up?

A: My birthday is in 2 days.

M: Birthday? Who said you could have a birthday?

A: Mom!!???!!

M: OK, fine. Have a birthday. But you're not allowed to get any older.

A: Nuh uh. I'm going to be 10.

M: OK, so you'll be 10. But that's it.

A: Nope. This year 10, next year 11, then 12, then 13. Before you know it I'll be a grown up.

sigh... she's so right. In the blink of an eye, my baby is half way to being an adult and I'm not sure, as a mother, that I'm prepared for that. However, as with us all, she is growing up. And I think I'm learning to grow up with her.

Happy Birthday, Angel. Mother loves you today and always.
