An Understanding Between Friends
Sometimes, in the midst of all life brings,
we forget how important our friends are to us,
and how important we are to our friends.
We take it for granted that only the things we
say, do, think or want
hold intrinsic value in our lives.
We may find ourselves wondering why those around us
are bothering to be concerned
-- or why they are smothering us with unasked for,
and seemingly unwelcomed, kindness
because we haven't focused on anyone but ourselves.
We shut out those we may need the most
And yet, they are still there.
They understand, they adjust, they show us they still care.
It's hard to understand why a friend is always there.
But it's based on feelings special people share.
It's not love in the way a many loves his wife --
or the way a guy loves the special girl in his life.
But it's love just the same because it' s certainly more
than like to have such commitment.
So, I'm sending you this heartfelt message
and I hope you understand.
I care for you, and I want to help you --
I thought I was your friend.
But no matter what happens from here --
No matter what direction either one of us should go --
I felt I had to say this.
I wanted you to know
I understand.

Everyone should be blessed with a friend as true as you.
I agree - that everyone deserves a friend who always understands. Don't know that I'm always the perfect friend, but I know it's worth trying to be anyway.
