Stuck in a Rut
Does it ever feel like you are stuck in rut? Always running on that hamster wheel and never getting anywhere? Well that's how things are around here lately. Seems like "same ole, same ole" is such an appropriate response to just about any question that it's almost pathetic.
I get up. I go to the gym. I go to work. I go back to the gym (or sometimes I come straight home). I check my emails and make sure the pets (virtual and otherwise) are attended to. I grab dinner. I get things ready for the next day. I go to bed. Lather, Rinse and Repeat. Except for Saturday. Then I exchange house cleaning for going to the gym and work. Who needs a gym when you're climbing up and down step ladders, cleaning out closets, running the vacuum and scrubbing anything that doesn't move? Sunday is, well, unpredictable in so many ways. I know I'm going to church. I know I'm not going to the gym. I know I'm going to try and teach a coherent primary lesson. But that's about all I know. It's not unusual for me to get tugged in a million different directions on my "day of rest". The sad part is, I actually look forward to Sunday since it is the only day of the week I can for sure tell you I have no idea of what I'm doing. Otherwise I'm stuck in that proverbial rut.
I'll be glad for Spring and Summer and the advent of a new rut. I'm sure I'll have just as much (or little) to whine about with the routine, but it would be nice to have the sunshine to help make that rut seem just a little brighter.
And to help myself get past the rut feeling, I've toyed with the idea of getting involved in some 5K activities. Ha! Me! Doing 5K anything. Sigh... at least it's a goal that I can work on while I'm in my little rut of a routine.
So what do you do when you find yourself in a rut?

I guess it depends on what characteristics the rut takes. Sometimes I will try new recipes when cooking. Sometimes I will teach myself a new craft or technique. Sometimes I change or add to my exercise routine. Sometimes its as simple as changing one of the kids activities. Good luck figuring out how to handle your rut.

Me in a rut? Understatement of the century. Part of it I believe is part of growing up, growing older, added responsibilities, etc. - but some of it. . . well, some of it should be avoidable, surely to goodness! Good luck finding your way out of yours.

I can't wait for the sun to be out and for it to be warmer than 20*. I've had enough of winter this year, and that's a first for me. Hopefully the spring will be here soon and we'll all be doing better.

I think many people are feeling like they are in a rut. I'm really ready for spring and sun and spending all my time outdoors. When I'm in a rut I try to take a walk during lunch. Clears my head.
