Welcome to the New Addition.... errr Additions

Yup, that's right - not one... two new rodents to take the place of the one who's life ended last week. Boychild has the camera at his campout, but we'll eventually get their photos posted.

Girlchild selected a black bear hamster - really it's just a black fancy hamster but because they call it a "bear" they get to charge an extra 30% for it. It's soft as silk and looks like black velvet - which means it's name is, of course, Missy. Shaking head... don't ask.

Boychild selected a hamster in abstentia. He sent instructions that 1) he wanted a fancy hamster and 2) he wanted a brown hamster. I'm not saying that all brown hamsters look alike, but come on. They really sort of do. This particular little girl has almost identical coloring to the teddy bear hamster that just died - he'll be pleased by that. He may not be pleased that she is a girl, but it was that or he was going to have to compromise on the black bear because that one was just too cute to pass up. The 2 girls can room together where 2 boys couldn't and we just aren't going down the road with one of each. Temporarily her name is Sissy... as in girlchild's nick name. We actually used to call her "missy sissy" - which then got shortened when she got out of her toddler stage.

They're a lot smaller than the previous hammy and much more active. I do believe that wheel has been going non-stop since we brought them home. I'm not sure that Mr. Cuddles used that wheel for more than a napping place in recent memory. What's hillarious is to see them running on the wheel together. Yes, that's right. 2 hamsters, nose to tail running in the same direction at the same time. That's how petite they are for now. They'll grow, without a doubt - we've had too many hammies by now to forget that this petiteness is temporary.

Hopefully we get some sleep tonight - that silent wheel isn't so silent when it's spinning on high gear. In the meantime, there are pleasant dreams of new friends and lots of entertainment as we get aquainted with the new additions.

Very cute. I would love to see some pics of these two cute hammies especially if they are small. Aww very cute sounding.

We'll definately be posting pictures - just have to get that dratted camera back from the boychild. That's definately one of the downsides to the kids having 2 homes - things aren't always in the home you want them to be at when you want them to be there.

Boychild thinks he has that solved by asking for his own camera for Christmas.

When do they sleep?

Not when you're sleeping, I'd bet!

:)

Thanks for your ICLW comment.
