100?? Already??
I've been stumped for awhile now, thinking hard, trying to come up with something really "good" for the 100th post. After all, 100 ought to be something special right? And as soon as my fingers hit the keyboard, my brain shuts down. It's like I'm incapable of forming a coherent sentence. The task of producing something mind boggling and creative is just beyond me. The stress is too much. So instead, I leave you with these thoughts, random as they may be, and hope the block is removed when it comes time for 101 and 102 and 103...
I don't like Sarah Palin or her politics. The more I read, the more I hear and the more I watch I just want to rip those trendy little glasses off her face and say "wake up, woman!". Ok and I do feel like slapping her around a bit when she talks about her great family values and then traipses off to further her own career while leaving someone else to care for her children and her spouse - lets someone else have the daily struggles of raising a child with special needs while she claims to "understand" and wants to "fight for" their rights. Puuuuhleeezzzeeee. Her "victimize the victim" stance is also quite frightening. What political official in their right mind would sit back and do nothing (thereby sanctioning at minimum) while rape victims pay for their own rape test kits? And her anti-abortion stance of "oh well if you got pregnant by rape, abortion is always wrong" just reinforces the idea that it's ok to victimize the victim. Again, I don't want to debate the notion of is abortion "right" - moral, ethical, proper... Heavenly Father has given us all the opportunity to exercise our agency in this matter and I'm not going to sit and tell someone that they may not do something that I wouldn't do - that's all I'm saying.
eta: I almost forgot - the newest reason I can't stand that Sarah Palin is the Republican VP candidate: her hubby seems to think that suponeas don't apply to him. Look, I personally don't think that based on everything made public that Sarah Palin will be found guilty of any ethical violations in the firing of her Public Safety Commissioner -- even though there are TWO investigations into the event. But the American public has a right for that issue to be ruled upon BEFORE they go to the polls to vote for the next President of the United States. Who does he think he is that he can refuse to answer questions and stall the investigations? And where does the Republican party get off making a request to have the investigation halted until after the elections? Come on!! I realize it's not like the woman is on trial for murder but it's a matter of public trust. Can we trust this woman? Can we trust this woman's husband will not flaunt the privileges that may come with her office? Can we trust anyone from the "official" Republican party who is more interested in political outcomes than truth? Yeah, I think it's pretty fair to say that unless someone can present me with something pretty horrible about the Democratic ticket I'm going to be an Obama voter.
Apparently there was a massive batch of valve stems sent out to tire distributors, dealerships and garages. They crack. Suddenly. And when they do you end up with tire failure - hopefully just a flat. In July, we experienced this - of course we thought it was a fluke and luckily we were close enough to the repair facility that it was but an inconvenient blip in our day. Since there, apparently there has a been a recall on these valve stems - but not one that has been announced -- just one that if you present your vehicle to the shop with a valve stem failure, they will replace it for free. Mmmmm hmmmmm. You have to have a problem before they will fix what they know is a problem. What kind of logic is that, especially when it may relate to the safety of one's family? So last Sunday we get to church and I notice, sure enough, another tire is going down. It's starting to rain and the trunk is filled with things to be dropped off at Good Will. So I drop the kids off with their Dad and scoot out quickly rather than staying for the meeting block, hedging my bets that I can get it to the repair shop again before it's completely flat. Nope. It got flatter - much flatter. Like not repairable flatter. Not only that, but another tire had decided that it wanted in on the attention - just like a parcel of kids! So even if I had stuck the spare on the car, I was still going to be in trouble. Oye vey! The gal at the tire shop informed me of this "recall" situation. The tire was covered under the road hazard warranty, the replacement valve stems were covered by the recall, and the charge to put road hazard coverage on the new tire was also covered by the recall. They also checked the 4th tire and discovered that valve stem was also about to go so they replaced it while they were in there. The most important thing to me is that no one was hurt. I think of how just a few minutes before we were traveling the highway around the city at 65 miles per hour and how bad that could have been if the tires had gone out while we were driving. We got lucky.
I had my hair cut. Short. Like the stylist didn't want to cut my hair because she didn't believe me when I told her I used to wear it that short all the time. Luckily I had brought photos with to show how I wanted it cut - she believed me. But she was still timid about those first few cuts. I told her it was just hair and it would grow. Then she relaxed and did what was asked. It's actually kind of cute - not just practical and functional. But it has thrown a few people off. Someone I've known for 9, going on 10 years looked at me from across a room and asked me to introduce myself to the group. Ahhhemmmm. We all had a good laugh.
I am a huge procrastinator this week. I don't know what the deal is, but I just can't be motivated to do anything unless it's "hurry up" and "at the last minute"... like now, I should be out the door for church in 30 minutes and still haven't bothered to shower. Thank goodness for the new hair cut - I can still make it now that I don't have to deal with the mane.
On that note... ta. And happy 100!

Happy 100th post! What a pain and a relief about the tires. Good thing it was covered and everyone was safe. Oh how I wish I could do a short hair cut. Sadly, my face is "too round". I'll have to deal with my mass of unruly, curly hair the old fashion way, throw it up in a pony tail, and leave the house.
Enjoy your day!

Congratulations on your 100th post!
I'm glad the the tire issues didn't cause an accident.
I used to have very short hair and loved it. I occasionally think about cutting it all off again, but I'm just not quite ready to go there yet.
Responding to your ICLW comment (thanks!).
I am glad to see I wasn't the only one who didn't recognize you with your short hair the other night! It took me a minute after I sat next to you, to realize it was you.
Happy 100th Post! This is my first visit to your blog, I'm here from ICLW. BUT, I think I will be back, hopefully to share more milestones.
I had bottom length hair once and asked the hairdresser to cut it all off, she refused and would only trim a little each time, she was sure I would hate it short! I bet your new do is fantastic!!
Happy 100th post!
Glad y'all didn't get hurt by those flats you got from the valve stems failing. It actually made the evening news here in NC and they said there is a way they can check the tires you have. You can view the video of the valve stem failure news story here.
Happy 100th post!
My comment is not at all related to the post itself, but to your beautiful angels on the side bar. You have had a lot of loss (and joy by the looks). What a strong person you must be!
I'll check back - here from ICLW
Wow, Kristen! A very informative video - one that I wish I had seen when I had the first valve stem failure in July. I'm going to repost your link in a separate post just in case any lurkers aren't reading comments (or aren't reading all of the comments). I especially feel lucky and blessed that the issue my family encountered was one of inconvenience when I see what could have happened.
Glad I could help. Thanks for your comment on my blog. I'd love to see pics of your crochet pieces some day.

Here are a few photos - boy child has the camera at the moment for the upcoming scout camp out, etc. So I'll have to make it a point to take some more photos of current projects - hopefully I can bury the "evidence" so as not to ruin some Christmas surprises! LOL
Happy 100th Post!
What caught my eye was your dislike of Sarah Palin (me, too!)I have concluded, that if I hear someone say, "but she is a mother" one more time I will scream. Okay that's all from me.
Visiting for ICLW!
Congrats ! Happy ICL Week :)
Happy 100! That is a great start to many more (hopefully)
Thank you for stopping by!
Happy ICL

I have been wanting to make a comment on the Sarah Palin Troopergate thing for a while and might as well do it now. Lucky you!
I have seen very little mentioned that this trooper in question TASERED his son. That's child abuse. If the person who wanted him fired had not been a politician and relative of his she would be praised for firing him and an investigation into child abuse would be instigated. Being fired would be the least of that trooper's problems. He should be in jail. Think about it. If this happened to anyone else's child we would all be screaming for something to be done. Instead, the person who did the RIGHT thing is being investigated. This won't help future child abuse victims. The focus is completely in the wrong place on this one.
If the trooper in question was charged and convicted of child abuse, if he was charged and convicted of stalking, if he was charged and convicted with battery... then the safety board should have zero problem removing him.
The fact that he STILL has his job says that something is amiss - either the charges weren't filed, the allegations were unfounded (oh my goodness, now wouldn't that be the first in a nasty divorce case?), or some there is some other reason for him to keep his job that has not been revealed to us.
The part that irritates me ISN'T that she wants a bad cop fired. If he's a bad cop, he's a bad cop and he ought to be fired.
The part that irritates me IS that there is an investigation - TWO of them actually - underway that I'm fairly confident will end with findings of no ethical violations on her behalf.
Why not just let the investigations run their course, come to their conclusions, clear her of wrong doing and take away that potential issue of public trust before the election? As it stands, it looks more like she has something to hide than anything.
And Sarah Palin's record on "victims" is not all that good. Should we praise her for wanting justice for her family but not for the victims of rape who are not her family? She really can't hold up the "Pro-Victim" card on this issue. The "Concerned Sister/Aunt" card? Sure.
