Updates
A few quickies to tide folks over while I'm working at "Vacation, Day 4", etc.
1) My father was up for a visit this past weekend. It was nice to be able to wish him a Happy Father's Day in person. While the visit was good on the surface, there is also a lot of tension there that did interfer in our ability to have any relaxed conversations about life in general - lots of stories, puns and jokes but little substance. I was disappointed, but the kids had a good time with grandpa, so I guess that counts for something, right?
2) I promised to update the whole child visit issue that had been taking place in May. In a nutshell, I decided that since only 1 of the 3 of us want to talk and make arrangements for the children that satisfy court orders as well as personal preferences I was left with 2 choices: start a new court process or simply enforce what is already in place. To me it seems silly to spend money to start a new court process to get what I'm legally entitled to have (time with my children) so that truly left only one option - enforcement. But how can a person pick and choose which parts to enforce and which parts to ignore? Realistically they can't. Therefore the ex was sent a 6 week notice that the order would be enforced in its entirety. Today... ok late last night (as in after 10pm)... I receive notice from him that he can't possibly abide by the court order (delivering children to me for a midweek visit) and that he doesn't understand why I have to bring all of this up again. Hmmmm that fact that I keep bringing it up ought to give him some little clue, dontcha think? Anyway, I feel like a real b*tch but at this point I don't care if I make him mad or make his current wife mad. It's about time with the kids to grow and nurture our relationship. If he even bothered to attempt to take steps that would do the same thing then some of this wouldn't even be necessary. And I had to get a laugh out of his comment "it's better for the kids...". I'm glad he sees that I've been trying to tell him all along in that regard. Now if his head could just see daylight long enough to see the rest of it.
3) Yeah, Brunhilda (for lack of a better psuedonym), I know you're still reading here. And I know that when you read you get upset and it causes a ripple effect. So try growing up and either stop reading or stop taking it out on the people around you.
4) We're making plans to spend July 4th with my sisters and their families. Should be a good time. Now if I could drive more than 20 minutes without feeling like I need to sleep it would be even better (we'll have about a 3 1/2 hour drive each way that weekend).
5) It's hot and muggy. Dripping muggy. Uggghh. Makes for very short tempers as well as miserable days.
6) The good part about the hot and muggy is that the garden is taking off wonderfully. We're enjoying fresh leaf lettuce and spinach now - and sharing it with anyone who will take it because it's come in so prolifically. And the best part of all?? My limas look as full and lush (if not more so) than the green beans. Woo hoo for my favorite. I was out to the garden this morning working before the heat set in on top of the humidity. The cherry tomatoes especially are thick vined and growing fast, but all of the tomatoes are looking healthy (especially now that I got them caged and they aren't sprawling on the ground. I finally found my jalepeno plants so I got them in as well. And girlchild informed me that while she does like green peppers, it's the yellow bell peppers that are her favorite, so I put some of those in as well. The plant I put in the ground was bigger than the ones I put in just a few weeks ago from much smaller bedding plants, of course. I've had several compliments on the garden this year and it's actually kind of fun - last year was a lot more work than fun.
7) I saw 2 different specialists last week. The one was pretty uneventful and another bunch of hurry up and wait (gotta love managed care) but the other was quite productive and I'm actually looking forward to the arrival of some custom orthodics. ANYTHING that can help my workouts and activity be more comfortable while I continue with the weight loss battle!
8) Is it November yet? No?? Sigh...

I was here the other day and tried to leave a comment but Blogger kept eating it. I was going to email you but I totally spaced it!
I hope you can work all of this out with your ex. It's frustrating, I know. Stick to your guns, hon!
