More Memories to Preserve

My son gave me the most thoughtful gift. He saw that I had been lazily putting a piece of paper or empty envelope in to mark the page in the book I'm reading. So he took some thin cardboard and some fabric and sewed a cover over the cardboard - yes the boy knows how to use needle and thread and used a blanket stitch to create a "decorative edge" as he calls it. Then he took an "O" ring and put it through the fabric/cardboard at one end. "You're supposed to put the cardboard part in the book, Mom." I was informed that the "O" ring was so I could hook it on my key ring or the handle of my desk so I wouldn't loose it - yes, I have a habit of loosing the bookmarks I pick up at HPB and such.

AND... as if that wasn't enough, he found a Kevin Faulk trading card amongst his football card collection. For those who need a tiny lesson, Kevin Faulk plays for the Patriots.

Knowing how much I love the Patriots, my son decided I needed this card more than he did, so he drew me a picture of the Patriot logo to act as a greeting card of sorts and "wrapped" the trading card in it.

He was so pleased with himself. And of course he earned a million extra kisses (but not where anyone could see him get them) for his efforts. Ut's hard to image memories any more precious than this that I'll want to make sure to preserve for the future - for him, for me, for his kids... oh dear heaven I can't think that far ahead.

I'll try to get pictures later.

UPDATED: Here is the promised photo. Notice how the logo he used as his visual guide is much smaller than his finished drawing. I'm impressed!
