It's Important

While having time for personal and family scripture study daily has never been a priority of mine, even when I was a devout member of the church my children belong to, it is something that my kids practice in their primary home.

So, when they come to visit, we try to make sure to allow for that same time. Boy child goes along with it... yeah, whatever, mom. Girl child, however is very dedicated to her faith and practices it day in and day out. She teaches me a lot about faith.

However, the story isn't about faith. It's about being who you are and making sure you take the time to be true to your own beliefs.

We spent most of our last weekend together with her sicker than a dog, at Urgent Care, in the ER, recovering, etc. We got home Saturday night after having to make a side trip to pick up boy child from D & R who had so lovingly dropped everything for us that day to make sure our family needs were tended to. We're all hot, tired, hungry (ok well maybe she wasn't hungry), crabby and looking forward to bed. After getting her pj's on, teeth brushed and all she says to me "aren't we going to read scriptures tonight?" "No, sweetie. We're all tired. I think it's just a good idea to get some rest and feel better tomorrow." "Ok"

Next thing I know she's in the other room reading scriptures. As I later tucked her in I asked if she felt better. "Yup. Especially since I read my scriptures. I knew it was the right thing to do even if I didn't feel good."

From the mouth of babes: Doing what you know to be right for you even when you don't feel like it. It's important.
